The Sugar Ray Leonard Movie

Sugar Ray Leonard is remembered in the sporting world as one of, if not the most; flashy, exciting and elegant fighters the sport of boxing has seen.

Ray Charles Leonard is easily one of the most recognized faces and greatest boxing champions in the world. In the late 1970s and 1980s, Ray Leonard won world titles in multiple weight divisions and engaged in highly-publicized battles with such celebrated opponents as Wilfred Benitez, Thomas Hearns, Roberto Duran and Marvin Hagler.

Leonard won six WBC and WBA championships, three Golden Gloves, two AAU championships, and as an amateur won the 1976 Olympic Gold Medal for light-welterweight boxing in Montreal. This six-time world champion is still of only two boxers to have won a world champion title in five different weight classes. His personal life also has been a captivating, colorful rollercoaster, awash in both strife and success.

The champ was named after blues legend Ray Charles and given the nickname “Sugar” by one of his amateur coaches. Sugar Ray Leonard now shares the details of his unique life story both in and out of the ring for this memorable project.
